Sarcophagus of Yaroslav the Wise

Description Sarcophagus of Yaroslav the Wise, which is exhibited in the chancel of the former northern inner gallery. It consists of a rectangular box with a lid and gable lugs (acroteria *) at the corners. The box and the lid of the sarcophagus are decorated with carvings of vines, palms, cypress, fish, birds, crosses and other early Christian symbols. Weight tomb - 6 tons. The sarcophagus of Yaroslav the Wise is made of marble and prokonesskogo obviously brought from Byzantium.
